Excess skin or fat of the chest wall can be treated with liposuction with or without additional breast surgery. The fat tends to be dense and may benefit from ultrasound, laser, or power assisted liposuction. Aside from massive weight loss cases or as an extension of breast reduction to include lateral chest rolls, excision of chest tissue is rarely necessary. These procedures can usually be done in 1 to 2 hours with mild sedation and local or tumescent anesthesia, but deeper sedation may be necessary.
